"Heroes welcome"- Africa celebrates Morocco for their epic World Cup performance

The Moroccan national team in this world cup has succeeded in changing the whole narrative of African football.

Despite having very talented players, Africa has made little or no effort to properly harness this talent, especially on the global stage. Most African teams select talented players and put them on the pitch without any reasonable game plan.

Well, Walid Regragui and his boys have succeeded in proving that African teams can play tactical football, just like European and American teams.

Morocco became the first African team to reach the Semi-Finals of the FIFA World Cup competition. Despite losing to Croatia 2:1 in the third-place playoff, we can all agree that Morocco outdid itself in this competition. Morocco did not achieve this because of a single player, they achieved this as a team. Throughout this competition, Morocco had a specific style of play. 

I agree it did not work against France and Croatia, but it took them to the Semi-Finals of the World Cup. This style of play outplayed the famous Belgium Stars and even Ronaldo's Portugal. This style of play took them through the group stage and to the Semi-Finals without conceding a single goal from opposition players.

This is a wake-up call for African teams. It is high time we stopped playing as the spirit leads and adopt a tactical mode of play. 

In no distant time, an African team will get to the finals of the FIFA World Cup. Maybe in 2026.
